From Worksite to Website — Building Tools for Footy Fans Everywhere

Hi, I’m Adam, the creator of SotaramAFL — a lifelong AFL fan, a construction professional by trade, and a self-taught coder who couldn’t stop thinking about how AFL list managers actually make their draft-day decisions.

During the day, I’m working in the construction and project world — managing sites, solving problems, planning works, and keeping complex projects moving.
At night (and often way too late into the night), I’m coding tools, breaking code, fixing code, and building something I wish existed years ago:

A real, accurate, dynamic AFL Draft simulator.

I’m not a big tech company.
I’m just a bloke with a passion for the sport, a curiosity for the numbers behind draft strategy, and the work ethic to build something that footy fans have never had before.

🧰 Why I Built This App

For years, I watched the AFL Draft and thought:

“There has to be a better way to visualise this. Fans should be able to see the points, the bid-matching, the club deficits… all in real time.”

Every year, AFL clubs make moves based on a mix of analytics, intuition, and rule-based calculations that most people never get to see.
I wanted to pull the curtain back — not just for myself, but for anyone who loves the strategy behind the sport.

What started as a simple spreadsheet became a full mock draft simulator:

• Live pick points

• Real bid-matching logic

• Accurate club deficits and adjustments

• Future picks

• Trade scenarios

• Club strategies

• Player pools

• And even community mock drafts

Every line of code was written with the goal of making the AFL Draft easier to understand, more fun, and far more interactive.

My professional background is in construction, but the mindset overlaps with coding far more than you’d think:

Whether it’s on the worksite or behind the keyboard, I love building things that work — and building SotaramAFL has been the biggest, most rewarding project I’ve ever taken on.
