Archie Daffy scouting report

Archie Daffy is the 2026 draft’s "high-end dual-role engine." Splitting his top-age campaign between the Geelong Falcons in the Talent League and anchoring the Geelong College First XVIII in the APS competition, Daffy is a highly dynamic midfielder/forward who oozes modern draft appeal. After an ultra-impressive 2-goal display against the Dandenong Stingrays in Round 1 and a best-on-ground performance against the GWV Rebels, Daffy has caught recruiters' eyes with his clean lateral evasion and structural toughness. He is a classy, highly creative operator who reads the drop of the ball with precision, has a lethal burst out of congestion, and loves to drift forward into space where he uses heavy bodywork to out-mark opponents or split open defensive grids with sharp field kicking.

More from the scouting notes

Rayner represents the ultimate tactical blueprint for Daffy's "explosive mid-forward hybrid" traits. Daffy possesses that highly coveted, dense core and powerful lateral step that allows him to absorb contact and shrug off tackles completely untroubled. Like Rayner, Daffy’s point of difference is his sheer damage-per-possession in the forward half. He doesn't need to sit back and accumulate cheap touches across half-back; he wants to win the hard ball at the stoppage, explode through the frontline, and drop pinpoint inside-50 passes. When rotated deep into the forward line—as shown by his multi-goal bags for Geelong College and the Falcons—he uses clever body positioning to out-muscle defenders in the air, transforming into a genuine score-board threat.
