George Dimer scouting report

George Dimer is the 2026 draft’s "slippery maestro." Standing at a diminutive 173cm, the Sandringham Dragons forward and Haileybury College product is widely considered one of the absolute cleanest, most watchable ground-level operators in the entire draft pool. Dimer’s early 2026 campaign was heavily delayed by a frustrating pre-season back stress reaction, but he made up for lost time in jaw-dropping fashion. Returning for a dramatic, high-stakes draw against the Dandenong Stingrays, Dimer looked completely a class above—mopping up loose balls at high velocity, showing elite one-touch handling beneath his knees, and carving up opposition backlines with delicate inside-50 distribution. His sheer scoreboard impact and athletic flair instantly earned him a call-up to the final Vic Metro Under-18 National Championships squad.

More from the scouting notes

Dimer is a beautiful match for the Miers "elite connecting small forward" blueprint. At 173cm, he lacks traditional key-position height, but he completely dominates matches through elite lateral movement, footy smarts, and supreme vision. Like Miers, Dimer doesn't just sit in the pocket waiting for crumbs; he loves to push up to the arcs, receive the ball on the burst, and look for low-trajectory, highly creative options inside 50. His ability to hit targets with "precise and delicate" weight on his kicks makes him an absolute luxury for leading forwards. When given his own window, he's just as lethal, capable of snapping heavily pressured finishes out of mid-air or slotting ice-cold set shots.
