Darcy Szerszyn scouting report

Darcy Szerszyn is the 2026 draft’s premier "intercept general." A 188cm defender from the Dandenong Stingrays, he is often described as a "brick wall" due to his high-IQ positioning and elite aerial reliability. Despite missing the start of the 2026 season due to shoulder surgery, his reputation as a "play-it-both-ways" defender is blue-chip; he is just as comfortable locking down a dangerous forward as he is peeling off to take a courageous intercept mark and igniting a rebound from defensive 50.

More from the scouting notes

Szerszyn mirrors Ryan’s specific ability to play much taller than his 188cm frame. He possesses that rare "defensive instinct" to know exactly when to leave his man to intercept, combined with the clean hands and composure to act as a primary playmaker from the back half.
