Sam Harris scouting report

Sam Harris is the 2026 draft’s "industrious engine." Standing 179cm, the Calder Cannons product is a high-priority North Melbourne Father-Son prospect (the son of 149-game Kangaroos midfield hard nut Daniel Harris). While he inherits his father's uncompromising, hard-nosed approach to the contested ball, the younger Harris brings a distinctly modern dynamic to his game. He combines an intense inside extraction style with a massive aerobic work rate that allows him to spread hard to the outside and punish teams as a high-half-forward. After already graduating Year 12, Harris has spent the 2026 season training with purpose, recently tearing apart a clash against the Geelong Falcons with a 21-disposal, 6-tackle, and 3-goal masterclass that underscored his rising draft ceiling.

More from the scouting notes

Harris mirrors Adams’ exact blueprint as a high-octane "mid-forward bridge." At 179cm, he uses a powerful core and an endless tank to outwork his direct opponent across four quarters. Like Adams, he is completely comfortable doing the unglamorous "dirty work" at the bottom of a stoppage, but his real growth in 2026 has been his forward-half impact. His ability to push out of the engine room, find space between the arcs, and hit the scoreboard with clinical efficiency—while maintaining a fierce, 6+ tackle defensive edge—makes him a direct tactical clone.
